Cornemuses Fañch Gourvès

La nouvelle génération des cornemuses écossaises « Fañch Gourvès » de Ti ar Sonerien, fabriquées par McCallum Bagpipes.

J'ai commencé à tourner mes premières cornemuses en 1972. Passionné par la facture des plus illustres luthiers écossais, j'ai cherché à retrouver l’équilibre et la richesse harmonique caractéristiques des meilleurs instruments. Je remercie les sonneurs qui m'ont fait confiance ces 40 dernières années, des simples amateurs aux solistes les plus confirmés.

Depuis 2021, j’ai confié le soin à Ti ar Sonerien et McCallum Bagpipes de poursuivre l'aventure. Ayant suivi de près l’élaboration des premières répliques, j'ai été impressionné par l’exceptionnelle qualité du travail réalisé. 

Fañch Gourvès

I first met Fañch Gourvès in 1982, I had qualified for my first Macallan trophy and he had just started the Bagad de Lorient. We became good friends on that trip and we have been ever since. He was a regular visitor to Glasgow, and I love travelling to Brittany, so we always met for a few drinks and of course a long conversation about music and piping.

Over the years and those many conversations, I’ve always been amazed and impressed by the depth of knowledge he has of bagpipe sizes from some of the old makers. He really does know just about every size of most makes, and when they changed sizes as the makers adapted their sound.

When I first heard the great Breton pipers that were playing Gourvès Bagpipes, I knew that he had put his great knowledge to good use, the pipes looked and sounded fantastic.

We are very happy and proud to be making Gourvès pipes, under the supervision of Fañch and with his blessing, and I’m sure the Fañch Gourvès range of pipes will become very popular in Brittany and the rest of the world as well.
